Meet Bill Wright, our Editor

Monday, February 14, 2005
That’s me! Some one said, “watch what you ask for, you might get it”. In this case I couldn’t be happier. I’ve attended just about every race at Knoxville Raceway since 1978, and began writing about the races in the mid-90s as a journalist.

The nationally recognized ‘Bill Ws Knoxville News’ was one of the original regional Web pages at www.Hoseheads.com. My columns and stories have appeared in a number of other motorsports Websites and publications including RaceTalk, RaceChaser and Dirt Digest, and currently can be found in FlatOut Magazine and numerous websites.

I’ve served as co-host on Internet and radio shows such as USA Dirt Racing and Full Throttle Racing show. In 2004, I joined the Speed Channel production team at Knoxville for the 44th Annual Knoxville Nationals and the Inaugural Stacker2 Xtreme National Finals. Working with Ralph Shaheen, Brad Doty and Jeff Hammond as their “spotter” (they talk to what viewers are seeing at home – I let them know what is happening elsewhere on the track) has given me an appreciation of just how much work goes into a live 4-hour broadcast.

As a journalist and open wheel race fan I’ve covered hundreds of contests from Pennsylvania to Arkansas to the Dakotas over the years. It continues to give me an appreciation for Knoxville’s role as the hub for this type of racing when I “get home” and find these same drivers and teams having journeyed there for specials races like the 360 Nationals, Brodix Tournament of Champions and Knoxville Nationals.

And when I really get home, it’s in Monroe, Iowa with my Wife Carol, and sons Ben, Chris, Alex and Sam.
