Schatz Unveils Third Brick on National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum’s Wall of Champions

Knoxville, Iowa (Tuesday, June 23, 2009) -- On Saturday afternoon (June, 27th) Donny Schatz will unveil his third brick in as many years, on the Wall of Champions at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. The Wall of Champions is a tribute to all of those Sprint Car drivers who have won the feature event at the annual Knoxville Nationals. Last year’s win for Schatz marked his third nationals win in a row and on Saturday he will unveil that third brick. The ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm and is being held in conjunction with the World of Outlaws race event, Saturday night, at the Knoxville Raceway. The ceremony, hosted by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, is open to the public and refreshments will be served.

The Wall of Champions, located just outside of turn two at the Knoxville Raceway, was completed in 2004 and it serves to honor all of the past champions of the Knoxville Nationals, currently there are forty-eight names on the wall. Instrumental in the construction of the wall was the Eddie Leavitt family; the wall is dedicated to the memory of Leavitt who was the Knoxville Nationals Champion in 1975 and 1976.
