Nationals Pageant continues to look for former Nationals Queens

11/92009 - KNOXVILLE, Iowa - With the 50th Knoxville Nationals fast approaching in 2010, Knoxville Raceway is hoping to give the fans the “royal treatment” during those four days in August. One of the ways fans will enjoy their Knoxville experience next year is to see many of the former Nationals queens on the fairgrounds during various activities.
The pageant dates back to 1975 when Kathy Visser brought the idea to fruition and crowned Robin Dirks as the first Nationals queen. It was Kathy’s feeling that all candidates should be treated with dignity and should be able to show the beauty of their personalities and their knowledge of sprint car racing. The pageant continues to do that under the direction of Contest Coordinator Christi Woodruff.
The Raceway needs your help in locating former queens as many have moved after their day in the limelight and many have taken on new last names.
"We have found several of the girls through the contacts of various people, but we could sure use some more help in finding others. Many of the girls have married and they no longer carry their maiden names. There has to be people out there reading this who can give us some leads."
