KNOXVILLE, IOWA (April 24, 2010) - The Knoxville Raceway is proud to announce that the Premier Chevy Dealers will be the new title sponsor of the Knoxville World Challenge, to be held on Friday, August 13, during the 50th annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil. The 17th annual Premier Chevy Dealers Knoxville World Challenge is a $10,000-to-win, 20-lap invitational featuring the best sprint car drivers from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America. Two of the latest event entries have been filed by Colin Entwisle of Mount Maunganui, North Island, New Zealand, and Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

According to Knoxville Raceway marketing director Brian Stickel, “We are thrilled to welcome the Premier Chevy Dealers to the Knoxville Raceway family, especially in this season of our 50th Knoxville Sprint Car National Championships. Premier Chevy Dealers is a select group of Chevrolet dealers located in the central Iowa area selling fuel efficient and high quality Chevrolet cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and hybrids. Their long-term commitment to quality and service at a fair price reflects our 50-year commitment of bringing the best-of-the-best in international competition to the Sprint Car Capital of the World in Knoxville, Iowa. From the kick-off Premier Chevy Dealers World Challenge Picnic on Tuesday afternoon, August 10, to the fireworks following the Premier Chevy Dealers Knoxville World Challenge finale on Friday night, August 13, we will make sure that their presence is known on the Marion County Fairgrounds at this year’s Goodyear Knoxville Nationals.

New Zealander Colin Entwisle becomes just the sixth Kiwi ever to compete in the international invitational, joining past participants Corey Haigh, Jamie McDoanld, Bill Clarkson (Jr.), Stevie Walsh, and Kerry Jones. 2010 marks the first year that young Lucas Wolfe, son of veteran competitor Randy Wolfe, is eligible to compete in the World Challenge. Two Canadians, Chris Schmelzle and Toni Lutar, have both entered the event to date, as have Americans Danny Smith, Jason Sides and Paul McMahan. Fourteen Yanks are eligible to compete this year after having qualified at select races in Australia and New Zealand in the past six months, including Jonathoan Allard, Jason Johnson, Ricky Logan, Joey Saldana, Sammy Swindell, Craig Dollansky, Wayne Johnson, Terry McCarl, Jerry Richert (Jr.), and Shane Stewart. Many Aussies are expected to enter the Premier Chevy Dealers Knoxville World Challenge in the weeks to come.

International sprint car drivers from Australia, Canada and New Zealand will continue to be eligible for the Premier Chevy Dealers Knoxville World Challenge simply by competing in the 50th annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals at the world-famous Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. The starting line-up for the 2010 World Challenge will remain a sixteen-car inversion based upon a driver’s qualifying night points.
