Often when a person is close to something over a long period of time they tend to take it for granted. Such is the case with Knoxville Raceway at times.
As we travel around the country promoting the Knoxville National events, we hear from people far and wide what a special place Knoxville Raceway is for them. How they attended with their Father as a child and how they have in turn traveled to the Raceway with their own children for the experience of a lifetime.
These fans tell us detailed stories of the races they have attended. Who the drivers were, the autographs they got, the t-shirts they still have that must be worth a fortune by now. They tell us about how much they enjoyed themselves and how great the people are. It did not matter if it was Knoxville, Pella or any other city in the area they always mentioned the great people.
For nearly 60 years Knoxville Raceway has been racing on a weekly basis from April through September. As times have changed so have the events. The racers are going faster every year, the shows are running on a tight time schedule so there is always something going on for the fans. The safety and security of the drivers and fans is top notch and just like the days of old, the concessions are affordable so that you can bring the family on a Saturday night and not break the bank.
2010 saw 1,000 spectators come from Australia, New Zealand and other countries to attend the most spectacular dirt track – open wheel event in the world. These fans saved for years so they could have the experience of a lifetime. This experience is right outside the door of every individual who lives in Marion County.
Take some time this year to attend an event at the Knoxville Raceway. Bring the family, a friend, your date. Come with an open mind to let go of your troubles and shed your tie, kick off your heels and put on your favorite pair of jeans to have a one of a kind experience that people come from far and wide to enjoy.
You can expect every year that from the end of April through the end of September there will be racing in Knoxville every Saturday night. Special events that last for several days and build the excitement day after day include the 51st Goodyear Knoxville Nationals August 10-13; 21st Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals August 4-6; 8th Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals September 29 to October 1, World of Outlaws Mediacom Shootout June 10-11.
Knoxville Raceway is a gem in the heartland of the Midwest. This unique attraction draws fans from around the world every year and helps bolster the economy throughout Iowa in many substantial ways.
