Jon Agan Leads Flag-to-Flag for First Win of 2011 at Knoxville

Agan Motorsports and driver Jon Agan dominated the 360 division A-feature event Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway starting from the pole position and leading every lap in the Dee Zee/Military Trucks/DMB Supply Maxim. After qualifying 11th, Agan took advantage of the invert and led the field into turn one from the start and never looked back. Agan extended his lead over the first eight laps until a caution slowed the field just past the halfway point of the 15-lap race. After the restart, Agan again pulled away from the field and was never challenged for the lead.

The Agan Motorsports team was competing with last year’s car after getting caught up in an accident at the start of the last race at Knoxville. “We destroyed our new car in the accident a few weeks back,” said Agan. “We are in the process of having a new engine being built, but this Ostrich Racing engine great come feature time. This is the car we have had a great deal of success with. Going back to last year, we’ve been to victory lane four out of the last five races with this car. I think we might just stay with what has been working for us.”

The team would not have been able to rebound from the accident at Knoxville on May 7 without the support of it marketing partners. “If not for the support from Dee Zee, our associate sponsors Military Trucks and DMB Supply, and all our product sponsors, we would not have been in the position to prepare our second car and return to the track without missing a beat,” said Agan.

The win, Agan’s fifth at Knoxville Raceway, moves the team into fifth place in the season long Championship Cup Series after entering the night 14th in the points standings.

The win topped off a memorable weekend for the Agan Motorsports team. Jon’s son Reid celebrated his first birthday on Saturday and long-time team member Cory Collins graduated from Knoxville High School on Sunday.

Agan Motorsports will be back in Knoxville Raceway for a doubleheader next Friday and Saturday as part of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend events.
