Friday, July 1, 2011
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 28, 2011) – The month of July will offer one of the most diverse schedules ever in the history of the Knoxville Raceway and it will be highlighted by sprint car Twin Features on two occasions, the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) Harris Clash for modified and dirt late model stock cars, and the Marion County Fair with its annual concert and brand-new National Tractor Pulling Association (NTPA) truck & tractor pull event. All of those special events will complement the Lucas Oil Championship Cup Series events for winged 305-, 360- and 410-cubic-inch sprint cars each and every Saturday night in July at the ultra-fast half-mile dirt track.

The July schedule opens on Saturday, July 2, with the annual Pizza Hut Night of sprint car racing, featuring Twin Features for the popular 360 c.i. sprint car division, along with the regularly scheduled 410 c.i. sprint car class.

On Tuesday, July 5, the twentieth annual Harris Clash for IMCA modifieds comes to town, highlighted by a new 30-car, 30-lap feature format. Also new is the fact that there will be a five-minute mid-point stop on lap 15, whereby changes may be made to the modified stock cars. The $2,000-to-win race will then be restarted for the final 15 laps.

Saturday, July 9, features Wells Fargo Twin Features for the powerful ‘410’ sprint cars, along with the ‘360’ class, during the annual Fill the Stands for Hospice Night.

The Marion County Fair runs Friday, July 15, through Thursday, July 21, with special activities occurring every day on the fairgrounds. The Fair opens on Friday, July 16, with a concert by Seven Bridges Road, an Eagles Tribute band, and Edge of Forever, a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute band. Hy-Vee Night at the sprint car races occurs on Saturday, July 16, including the always-exciting 305-cubic-inch sprint car division. The Fair closes on Thursday, July 21, with the brand-new Titan Machinery NTPA Pullin’ for the Fair Truck and Tractor Pull event.

3M Night, a full evening of 305’s, 360’s and 410’s, occurs on Saturday, July 23. Knoxville demonstrates why it is known as the “Sprint Car Capital of the World” with these three divisions in competition in front of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum on turn two of the legendary dirt track.

The IMCA Deery Brothers Series for dirt late models comes to town on Tuesday, July 26, boasting a 28-car, 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature. Also on the card will be a 24-car, 20-lap, $750-to-win IMCA SportMod main event.

Finally, the month of July will conclude with Candi’s Flowers Night on Saturday, July 30. This show is a preview of the August 4-13 Iowa Speed Week, which includes the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals, the United States Auto Club (USAC) Non-Winged Knoxville Nationals, and the World of Outlaws (WoO) Goodyear Knoxville Nationals.
