Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Heads to Knoxville Raceway for the Late Model Knoxville Nationals This Weekend!

WAYCROSS, GA (September 27, 2011) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to Knoxville, IA for the 8th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores at the famed Knoxville Raceway. The three day event boasts a total purse of over $260,000 making it the largest paying dirt late model event in the country with the winner receiving $40,000. The three day event includes two 25-lap $7,000 to win feature events on Thursday and Friday as qualifier events for the 100-lap $40,000 to win feature event on Saturday.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores is scheduled to begin on Thursday September 29th with a full show of Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 25-lap $7,000 to win feature event. Then on Friday night September 30th the schedule includes another complete show with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the Feature Event both nights Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and another 25-lap $7,000 to win feature.

Then on Saturday October 1st the 100-lap $40,000 to win feature event will be set based on points earned from Thursday and Friday nights events and two last chance races to set the field of 30 drivers. Last year’s winner Billy Moyer from Batesville, AR swept all three nights of racing action and will return to defend his title along with a strong field of national stars from all over the country. Scott Bloomquist will enter the event 40 points ahead of Jimmy Owens in the battle for the series point’s championship and is a two time Late Model Knoxville Nationals winner winning in 2005 and 2009.

Race fans will have plenty to do over the three day event as numerous activities will take place at and around the facility over the three days. The special fan and trade show will run from 1 pm to 7 pm each day with exhibits on the Midway and at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. Numerous T-Shirt vendors and merchandise vendors will fill the midway all three days of the event. On Friday morning there will be a charity golf tournament to benefit theMarion County Humane Society at the Pine Knolls Golf and Country Club in Knoxville. The tournament is a 4 person best ball event with a 9 am start with several Lucas Oil
Late Model Dirt Series drivers participating in the event.

On Saturday race fans will also have an opportunity to participate in a special Celebrity Luncheon and auction to be held at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum behind turn two. Items to be auctioned off include driver and team donated items. A special meet and greet autograph session will be held on Saturday after the Celebrity Luncheon and Auction. The autograph session will begin at 3PM in the Dyer-Hudson Hall off the Midway that will include top Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers. Fans are encouraged to bring their favorite apparel and photos for the drivers to autograph!

This event will also be taped in High Definition by Lucas Oil Studios, a division of Lucas Oil Products, Inc. and will air on SPEED later this year. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will have numerous events broadcasted on several networks in 2011 including CBS, SPEED, VERSUS and MavTV.
