John Hall Racing opens Knoxville racing season

MARION, IOWA (April 29, 2012)—John Hall and his Left Turn Enterprises Racing Team kicked off their 25th anniversary season of racing at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, with a good run. The Knoxville season opened on Saturday, April 28.

With a field of 26 sprint cars ready to compete in the 360 division, Hall drew an early number for his qualifying group. And when time trials were over, he posted a lap of 16.772 seconds around the hallowed half-mile, good for 13th of the 26 cars. He started his heat race from outside the front row, but a scuffle with another driver dropped him back to a fifth-place finish. That was still good enough to make the A-Main and the invert put him third on the starting grid for the 18-lap feature event. He had a good run going, but a new left-rear tire the team put on before the race began to shake and blister about halfway through and that set Hall back to a 12th-place finish for the night.

The team plans to race again this Saturday, May 5, at Knoxville, where Hall earned the Rookie of the Year title in the 360 division in 1988. Hall will once again run a Maxim Chassis with Parker Engines. The car is owned by Charles and Doris Hall.
