Agan Motorsports Returns to Victory Lane at Knoxville Raceway

KNOXVILLE, Iowa, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 – For the second consecutive week, Jon Agan and Agan Motorsports were the team to beat in the 360 division at Knoxville Raceway. After a part failure ended the team’s night while leading the opening 12 laps last week, Agan lead all 18 laps en route to his seventh 360 feature win at the famed Iowa dirt oval on Saturday.
Agan qualified the DeeZee, Inc., DMB Hydraulics, Dickten Masch Plastics, Transportation Consultants car eighth and finished fourth in the heat race to transfer into the A-Feature event and a front row starting position. Agan jumped out to an early lead and set a blistering pace throughout the caution-free race. Multi-time National Champion Jason Johnson started sixth and quickly settling into the second position after only one lap was complete and tried to run down Agan. Johnson closed the gap on lap 14 in heavy lap traffic but was never able to mount a serious challenge. Agan pulled away for an impressive win of nearly a straightaway over Johnson all while lapping up to the ninth-place finisher.
“This Ostrich Racing Engine and GF1 chassis has been really fast the past two weeks,” said Agan. “To be able to run up front with two of the fastest 360 drivers in the country in Jason Johnson and Wayne Johnson gives our team a great deal of confidence that we can compete with anyone at Knoxville. It’s a shame we had the part failure last week, we could possibly be looking at a two-race win streak right now.”
The team is excited to return to competition at the Knoxville Raceway this weekend. “I think we have really found some things with our new GF1 Chassis and SBS shock package. We were really good last weekend on the cushion and real nice rolling the bottom this past weekend,” said Agan. The team has been running their old engine since experiencing a blown engine in Texas earlier this season. Agan is expecting the new engine to be back from Ostrich this week and in the car for Saturday night, replacing the old engine which has about 15 nights of racing on it, dating back to last season.
The win moved the team into seventh place in the season-long Championship Points Series, just 21 points out of fifth place.
