What a Difference a Week Makes!

by Bill Wright - If you’ve been perusing www.knoxvilleraceway.com, you know that changes are occurring by the day and sometimes by the minute the past week.
Starting with the front page, you’ll notice that our “Winner’s Box” continues to be updated, highlighting some of last year’s winners. That section will be devoted to picturing our weekly winners in 2005.
Photo galleries are up for Dennis Krieger and Doug Johnson, and Dave Hill continues to contribute more to his gallery. We are still looking to identify some of the photos in our “History” section. If it doesn’t have a caption under it, we’re still looking for your help.
Our “Events” sections on the right-hand side of the home page are nearing completion. If you are curious about an events format, how to sign up, who the pre-entries are, the happenings surrounding it and the updated purse, keep an eye on the events section. We will try to bring you the most updated and timely information possible.
The “Drivers” section has undergone the most change in the past week, and drivers are being added on a daily basis. Click on your favorite drivers to see photos, biographical stats, and more information. We already have two impressive fields of drivers planning to tackle the Knoxville half-mile in 2005. You may be surprised to see who is planning on an assault at a 2005 Knoxville championship, and more drivers will be added to the mix. If you are a driver, we are still looking to collect completed driver bios. If you have not received one, e-mail me at editor@knoxvilleraceway.com. During the racing season, the “Drivers” section will have up to the minute points standings to keep track of the race for the championship.
“Results” is up and running with some past results added. Detailed results (including starting positions in most races) can be found now for 2004, 2003, and 2002, with 2001 coming in the next week as we work backwards. Find the year’s winners listed in order at the top of the page. If you are searching for particular drivers results, you can click “Edit” at the top of your browser, and then “Find”. You will be prompted to type a keyword in, and it will search the document for drivers such as “Tony Stewart” in 2004. Also, a key component can be found on the last pages of the “Past Results” document. You will find complete point standings, with features won (including those not in the Knoxville standings), laps led and primary car(s) driven. I think you will be able to gather any statistical information you could dream of in this section. Be sure to e-mail me with any questions you may have.
Our links section is also growing on a daily basis. Find links to other racing organizations in alphabetical order, with more to come. Be sure to check out our “SCH/TKTS” section to see the latest schedule and pricing information. Notice most of our sponsors have links to their sites on the web. Be sure to frequent the sponsors who support racing here at Knoxville.
