‘The Saturday Before Iowa Speed Week’ Has Knoxville Fans Asking…“Who is Going to be Here This Week?”
KNOXVILLE, IOWA (July 27, 2012) - It used to be ‘the Saturday before The Nationals’ that had Knoxville fans asking, “Who is going to be here this week?” Now it is ‘the Saturday before the Iowa Speed Week,’ which is this Saturday, July 28.
Knoxville Raceway is hosting its regular three divisions of racing (305-, 360- and 410-cubic-inch winged sprint cars) this Saturday and many invaders are expected for their final tune-up before the Cox Design-sponsored Iowa Speed Week, August 2-11. Amongst the ‘410’ racers that have indicated that they will be in attendance this Saturday night are Stevie Smith of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, and Kyle Larson of Elk Grove, California. In addition, there are strong rumors that the ‘360’ field this Saturday will be boosted by Jac Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio, and three Kenny Woodruff-transported 360-cubic-inch sprint cars out of Oklahoma.
According to Knoxville Raceway general manager Toby Kruse, “Our phones have been ringing all week with calls from guys and gals asking questions about our weekly show this Saturday night. Both Stevie Smith and Jac Haudenschild are former winners here at Knoxville, so the quality of each field is going to rise just as much as the quantity. If you are a casual sprint car fan within a six-hour radius of Knoxville, Iowa, and you like good value for your money, I would suggest making tracks to ‘the Sprint Car Capital of the World’ this Saturday, July 28. I guarantee that you won’t know who will be here taking on our regular Lucas Oil Championship Series cars and stars until they pull out onto the track!”
The first 500 Ladies through the gate Saturday will receive a free flower courtesy of Candi’s Flowers. “We love this event and the Knoxville Nationals.” Stated Candi Stevens, owner of Candi’s Flowers. “The people that come to Knoxville are the greatest fans in the world and we love having them here so we can showcase our great community.”
