Knoxville, Iowa (6/19/2013) - Coming in August, a new book will be released that all sprint car fans will enjoy! Knoxville Nationals: The First 50 Years, with Eric Arnold and Bob Wilson.
The Knoxville Nationals is not only one of the oldest events in sprint car racing but it has become the biggest and most prestigious. With that comes a lot of history to be captured. Knoxville Raceway historians Bob Wilson and Eric Arnold have co-authored a book to document the first fifty years of the Knoxville Nationals. The book is outlined with one chapter dedicated to each year documenting the racing action, a collection of quotes from drivers and car owners, photographs, race results, lists of statistics, and a complete list of drivers who have competed in the event.
Bob Wilson brings you the stories from years 1961-1985 while Eric Arnold writes the second half from 1986-2010. Wilson has seen every Knoxville Nationals in person and has been an employee of the Knoxville Raceway since 1983, where he was responsible for writing the press releases after each race night, keeping track of records, and organizing the Nationals souvenir programs. Arnold has seen every Knoxville Nationals since 1981 in person, has been a freelance journalist since 2006, a columnist for Flat Out Magazine, and is currently the Knoxville Raceway Blogger and Twitter Commentator.
“This is an important piece of history that needed to be recorded for the ages,” said Dave Argabright, a six time National Sprint Car Poll Media Member of the Year award winner and author of several books in the sprint car genre.
The hard bound book will be ready for sale approximately by the end of July and is a must have book for sprint car fans who want to relive the Nationals and learn about the history of this great event. With only 1,000 copies being printed you will not want to wait to get one!
You can pre-order the book by finding the order form at www.knoxvilleraceway.com in the “entry forms” section of the website, or you can wait to find them for sale at Knoxville Raceway the week of the Knoxville Nationals, August 7-10, where Bob and Eric will be selling them in person and will be available for book signings. The book will sell for $35, plus shipping and handling if pre-ordered.
