Knoxville Raceway 2014 Rules

KNOXVILLE, IOWA - Updated rules for all sprint car classes are now available on the website under the “RULES” section. This season several new rules about safety are highlighted.

Thanks to the Knoxville Raceway Charitable Organization (KRCO) all of our teams who qualified for the 2013 point fund will receive a front axle tether, which is mandated for all classes in 2014.

Other changes that teams should review are highlighted in the 20 page rules packet. Items to review are torsion bar stops, driveline systems, head and neck restraints, and seats. Knoxville Raceway strongly suggests full containment type seats but they are not mandatory at this time.

360 rule changes: Left rear tire change takes effect July 1. The D12 tires will be allowed at the start of the season. After July 1 all cars will be mandated to use the 2014 H series left rear (H12 and H15), including the 360 Knoxville Nationals. 360 engine rule change will follow the new ASCS rule that the intake port polishing on Chevrolet Heads will be allowed no more than 1.800” (changed from 1.500”) below the bottom of the original seat ring.

Race Director John McCoy is pleased with the progress made in safety for this coming season. “I would like to thank the Marion County Fair Board for their commitment to safety. This past summer the Fair Board installed 3 additional feet of fencing to the front and backstretch fences. We want to make Knoxville Raceway as safe as possible for our competitors, our employees, and our fans. We may not know all the answers as to why some problems happen, but we need to be part of the solution to ensure everyone’s safety. I also want to thank the KRCO for all they do and Brian Butler and his company Butler Built for stepping up and developing and testing the front axle tether and for getting the product out there. The World of Outlaws, ASCS, and other tracks have adopted the front axle tether without hesitation.”

If anyone has any questions about rules they can contact John McCoy through the ticket office at 641-842-5431.

Tickets are on sale now for the Knoxville Raceway season including the 54th Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Store. Fans are urged to visit www.knoxvilleraceway.com or call the Ticket Office at 641-842-5431.
