A Lot to be Decided this Saturday Night in 2005 Sprint Finale!

Monday, August 29, 2005
Plenty of spots in the points standings are up for grabs in Midwest Wireless Season Championship this Saturday night, here at Knoxville Raceway. The drivers will be vying for a little extra cash and a rise in the all-important points standings, as the sprint car season comes to a close at Knoxville. Admission will be $12 for adults and $3 for children,14 and under. Preschoolers are free.

Kerry “Madman” Madsen’s cushion is at 185 points in the 410 class. The lead was partly a result of the misfortune of the man chasing him, Wayne Johnson. The pair entered last week’s A main just 30 points apart, but a pair of incidents sidelined Johnson. Strange things have happened on season championship night, so be there! A 410 championship would be a first for either pilot. Rest assured they’ll both be loaded this Saturday night!

Brian Brown extended his points lead over fourth place, Ricky Logan, with his second win of the year here at Knoxville last Saturday night. Only 110 points separate the pair in the battle for third. Skip Jackson sits in fifth, while Justin Henderson holds a scant 30 point lead over Billy Alley in the battle for sixth. Don Droud Jr., Matt Moro and Jesse Giannetto round out the top ten in the standings. Calvin Landis sits only 45 points out of the top ten. Get ready for 25 laps of mayhem come feature time!

Jake Peters sewed up his second consecutive 360 class championship last Saturday night with his dominating feature win. The rest of the standings are up for grabs, however. John Kearney used a strong finish to power into second in the standings, though his margin over Johnny Anderson is only 18 points. Larry Ball Jr. sits 28 points behind Anderson, so all three hotshoes will be vying for the runner-up position.

Josh Higday is solidly in fifth in the 360 standings, followed by John Schulz. Dusty Zomer, who has been hot as of late, sits seventh, but only three points separate him from Joe Beaver. Brett Mather and David Hall round out the top ten. Bronson Maeschen is only five points out of the top ten, so anything can happen. Beautiful weather is forecast, so don’t miss your last chance to see the steel steeds at Knoxville in 2005!
