Clear Skies Forecast for Lucas Oil L.M. Knoxville Nationals

Tuesday, September 27, 2005
Clear skies are forecast for this week’s $35,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, presented by Sunoco Race Fuels, at the Knoxville Raceway, September 29-30-October 1. According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph “Cappy” Capitani, “The weather forecast looks great for all three days, although it may be a little chilly on Thursday night. And we continue to receive new entries in the office, including those today from Caley Emerson of Minnesota, Mike Smith of Iowa, Eddie Kirchoff of Wyoming, and Billy Drake of Illinois. Heck, I’m old enough to remember seeing Billy’s dad, Steve Drake, finish in the ‘top ten’ here in 1973 and ’74 aboard his USAC stock car!”

In other news, Canadian dirt late model champion Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba has agreed to be a waiter for Saturday afternoon’s Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. The charity fundraiser will begin at 12 Noon and fifteen-dollar tickets can be reserved by calling 1-800-874-4488. Balcaen joins fellow Lucas Oil Knoxville Nationals entrants John Duty, Josh Richards, Justin Allgaier, Scott James, Brady Smith, Chris Smyser, Chub Frank, Billy Moyer, Jeep Van Wormer, Steve Francis, Tim McCreadie and Donnie Moran as celebrity waiters.

Those seeking to order tickets for the Speed-televised $220,000 Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, presented by Sunoco Race Fuels, at the Knoxville Raceway, September 29-30-October 1, are encouraged to visit the track’s web-site at www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
