Knoxville Raceway Welcomes Lucas Oil as Final Preparations are made for the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals

Knoxville, IA - Knoxville Raceway is busy working on final preparations for the 2nd annual Knoxville Late Model Nationals that takes place this Thursday through Saturday. This year Knoxville Raceway is pleased to announce their association with the Lucas Oil Company as the title sponsor of the event. Lucas Oil based in Corona, California, is the fastest growing additive lines in the automotive consumer industry. A premium line of oils, greases and problem solving additives have helped to firmly establish Lucas Oil as the leading company in the marketplace. Lucas Oil also produces a heavy-duty line of products for the industrial and agricultural markets as well.

Lucas Oil has been involved in motorsports for many years in numerous levels from multiple vehicle sponsorships, event promotions, purchasing racetracks and now owning one of the top professional dirt late model racing series in the country, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by Sunoco Race Fuels with associate sponsors PBM Performance Products and Vermeer Manufacturing is set to begin on September 29-30, October 1, 2005. The three-day event will not only feature the top late model drivers from across the nation, it will play host to thousands of race fans. Knoxville Raceway will entertain fans by offering a variety of interactive events in addition to the three nights of racing!

Thursday through Saturday, the fan-fest/trade show will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the midway behind the main grandstands. Fans will enjoy several interactive activities along the midway including the Goodyear Tire and Rubber racecar simulator. The full-scale replica dirt late model will be in the Goodyear booth for fans to experience what its like to drive a 700 horsepower dirt late model around Knoxville Raceway. Fans can enter a special contest each day by competing against the simulator to determine the fastest lap each day among the fans that enter the contest. Each day a grand prizewinner will be awarded a prize package compliments of Goodyear to the fan that turns the fastest lap.

On Friday morning, September 30, Knoxville Raceway will hold the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. Driver/Celebrity /Race Fan golf tournament. Fans will get the chance to golf with a driver and/or celebrity in a 18-hole 4-person best ball tournament format held at Pine Knolls Country Club located in Knoxville, IA. Drivers who will be playing include Brian Birkhofer, Donnie Moran, Earl Pearson Jr., Josh Richards, Ray Cook, Dale McDowell, and Rick Eckert. Celebrities include Dave Argabright and Ralph Capitani and several sponsor representatives. Saturday October 1, the second annual Celebrity/Driver Waiter Dinner & Auction will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:30 p.m., at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum located off the second turn of the famous Knoxville Raceway. Later that afternoon from 2-4 p.m., Knoxville Raceway will host a “Meet the Drivers” autograph session at the Dyer-Hudson Hall located right behind the Knoxville Raceway ticket office. Drivers will be set up at various tables for fans to meet and sign autographs.
