ASCS Drivers Enter Knoxville 360 Nationals & Brodix ToC

The American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) drivers must believe in the adage ‘the early bird gets the worm’, as many of their veteran and young-gun drivers have already entered the August 4-5 ASCS-sanctioned Knoxville 360 Nationals and the August 7 Brodix Tournament of Champions at the legendary Knoxville Raceway. Amongst the early entrants for the 15th annual 360 Nationals are such stars as A.G. Rains of Arkansas, Gary Wright of Texas, Tony Bruce of Kansas, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., of Mississippi, Toby Brown of Missouri, and Oklahomans Jake Martens and Darren Stewart. The $10,000-to-win 360 Nationals will be televised on the Speed Channel, and will have John Deere Buck ATV's as a preliminary night sponsor.
Wright, the 2003 and ’04 North American 360 Sprint Car Poll “Driver of the Year”, is at the top of his game and will be one of the early favorites to win the National Championships again. Wright won the Knoxville 360 Nationals championship in 1998. Of course, he will have to contend with another early entrant, David Hesmer of Marshalltown, Iowa, who is Knoxville’s winningest driver in the winged 360-cubic-inch sprint car division and has won the event twice in 1991 and ‘97. Toby Brown has to be another veteran as he just recently competed in his 200th consecutive ASCS program.
In addition, 2003 North American 360 Sprint Car Poll “Rookie of the Year” Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., will be a challenger for this year’s national championship title. He will face some tough competition from his fellow young-guns on the ASCS national tour, as well as from drivers like Rick Ideus of Nebraska, Ryan Voss of Iowa, and Scott Winters of Minnesota.
The Cox Design and Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek will consist of ten straight nights of racing between Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa. Knoxville Raceway’s August 4-5 Knoxville 360 Nationals, August 6 Casey’s General Stores Night (including 410’s), and the August 7 Brodix Tournament of Champions will offer four straight nights of winged 360 racing before the action heads over to Oskaloosa for the August 8-9 events (Front Row Challenge and Ultimate Challenge). The week concludes back at Knoxville for the 410 Nationals on August 10-13. The Brodix Tournament of Champions is an invitational and will feature the best cars and stars from twenty-one (21) different sanctions in the United States, Canada and Australia.
