Knoxville Celebrity Waiter Dinner Raises Nearly $4,000

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (October 1, 2005) - The second annual Knoxville Dirt Late Model Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction was held on Saturday afternoon and it was another successful benefit for the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum. Ten celebrity waiters raised over $1,625 in tips, with versatile ‘young gun’ Justin Allgaier of Springfield, Illinois, being named "Celebrity Waiter of the Year". Other participating waiters were Tim McCreadie, Chris Smyser, John Duty, Canada’s Mike Balcaen, Steve Francis, Knoxville Raceway's Justin Zoch, Josh Richards, Speed Channel’s Tony Bokhoven, and Brady Smith. In addition, over $2,355 was raised in the live auction, which was handled by former late model driver Lynn Richard and his wife Karen. A portion of the proceeds will also be sent to Bill Holder of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in Florence, Kentucky. Thanks go to all the celebrity waiters, diners, auction donors, and volunteers, in addition to Hy-Vee Food Stores, Hawkeye Racing News, Richard Realty & Auctions, and Stephanie Johnson Desserts. NASCAR’s Jeff Hammond was the 2004 “Celebrity Waiter of the Year”.
