October 14, 2005 – The Fast Track to Indy program for Geoff Dodge, the 2005 Knoxville Nationals Fast Track to Indy Rookie of the Year, just got faster.

Gary Peterson, owner of the #27 AFS Racing Menards Infiniti Pro Series car will have Geoff Dodge behind the wheel this weekend for the California 100 at the 2-mile California Speedway. Based on Geoff’s rapid progress during the daylong test session last month at Chicagoland Speedway, everyone involved with the program has been looking at getting him on-track before the 2005 season ended.

Ralph Capitani, Director of Racing at Knoxville Raceway, was excited for another reason. “No one paid to put Geoff in the car. That’s what this is all about. Sprint car drivers having an opportunity to move up in open wheel racing based on their performance and talent. This means they have a choice”. In talks with Geoff over the last three weeks he indicated that a number of teams were talking to him about next year based on his interest in running the entire season and eventually moving to IRL.

The California 100, run on Sunday, October 16th will be broadcast on Thursday, October 20th at 1 pm ET on ESPN2. Please check your local listings for actual times. For more information please go to www.indyracing.com and www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
