Knoxville Raceway Banquet is this Saturday Night!

by Bill Wright - Around a quarter of a million dollars in prizes and contingencies will be handed out this Saturday at the Knoxville Raceway banquet at the Adventureland Palace Theatre in Altoona. The evening will start with social time at 4:30 p.m. and dinner at 6. After dinner, guests will be entertained by a hypnotist and her selected "victims." Following the entertainment will be the awards ceremonies honoring Knoxville Raceway's best. A video presentation will accompany the top five drivers in each class for the season.

All drivers in the points standings will be rewarded for their efforts in making the 2005 season a success. 410 track champion Kerry Madsen and owner Tony Vermeer will be presented with their awards, including the $20,000 first place money. Jake Peters, driver/owner, the 360 point champion will receive his awards and $8,000.

The first five places in each division will have the following payouts (all in the point standings will have a payout):

410 class: 1. $20,000 2. $15,000 3. $12,000 4. $10,000 5. $9,000
360 class: 1. $8,000 2. $6,000 3. $5,000 4. $4,000 5. $3,000

In addition to our track champions, other awards will be on the line. Rookies of the Year in both classes, Most Improved Drivers of the Year, Sportsmen of the Year, Owners of the Year, the Lyle Boyd Hard Charger Award and the Most Popular drivers (as voted by the Junior Fan Club) of the year.

Additional awards include the Fan of the Year and the Heritage Award (presented by the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum).

Contingency prizes from various manufacturers will again be another highlight of the banquet.
