Christchurch, So. Island, N.Z., to host Clean-O World Challenge Qualifier

Tuesday, December 13, 2005
American World of Outlaws (WoO) star Craig Dollansky of Elk River, Minnesota, will venture to the Powerbuilt Speedway at Ruapuna Park in Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand, for this Saturday’s Powerbuilt Sprintcar Classic, which is a 2006 Clean-O World Challenge international qualifier. Dollansky is expected to be joined by fellow Americans Brian Brown of Missouri and Jimmy Kouba of Minnesota, Australians Max Dumesny, Robbie Farr and Garry Brazier, and North Island, New Zealanders Allan Wakeling, Kerry Jones, Jamie McDonald, Havard Daniels, Greg Pickerill, Tommy Rusher, Dean Brindle and Bill Clarkson Jr. All drivers in the $20,000 competition on December 17 will qualify for the Clean-O World Challenge international invitational to take place at Knoxville Raceway on Friday, August 11, 2006, during the 46th annual Knoxville Nationals.

Twenty-six (26) Canadian sprint car drivers and North Island, New Zealander Stevie Walsh are already eligible for the 2006 Clean-O World Challenge at Knoxville Raceway following September’s Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at the Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario. A number of South Island, New Zealanders will also be competing in the Powerbuilt Sprintcar Classic, including Gerard Ness, Glen Leech, Kevin Clive, Trevor Wishart, Steve Duff, Glenn Everett and Kevin Freeman, in hopes of qualifying for the mid-August $10,000-to-win show at the 'Sprint Car Capital of the World'.

All international (AUS, CAN, NZ) drivers competing in the 2006 Knoxville Nationals are eligible to compete in the Clean-O World Challenge, as are all American (USA) drivers that compete in one of the overseas qualifiers (Warrnambool, Christchurch). Only those eligible drivers that enter the Clean-O World Challenge and the Knoxville Nationals, and receive qualifying points on either Wednesday or Thursday of the Knoxville Nationals, may start the 20-lap Clean-O World Challenge. The starting line-up will feature the first 16 cars inverted based on points, provided they competed in one of the international qualifiers and are in the top 106 in points after both Knoxville Nationals qualifying programs. Those international drivers that did not compete in one of the international qualifiers (Ohsweken, Edmonton, Warrnambool, Christchurch), those outside of the top 106 in Knoxville Nationals qualifying points, and/or those outside of the top 16 Clean-O World Challenge entrants in Knoxville Nationals qualifying points, will tag the rear of the field (lining straight up according to Knoxville Nationals qualifying points).
