Knoxville Raceway is one of the premier dirt tracks in the world, and the World of Outlaws Sprint Series is proud to return to the facility in 2006.

The Outlaws will sanction events at Knoxville on Budweiser Night April 29 as well as on June 23-24 for the Mediacom World of Outlaws Shoot-Out. The Outlaws racers also will compete Aug. 9-12 in the 46th Annual Knoxville Nationals Presented by Midwest Ford Dealers.

The racers who compete weekly at Knoxville are some of the toughest around, but the Outlaws always are geared up for the challenge at the center of sprint car racing.

“It’s always good to make it back to Knoxville,” said DIRT MotorSports VP of Race Operations Shane Carson. “Their direction in sprint car racing has elevated the sport and our series over the past 28 years, and we look forward to many more.”

Highly respected race director Ralph Capitani also is pleased to have the World of Outlaws returning in 2006 to the half-mile speedplant in central Iowa.

“The World of Outlaws always brings energy and fans when they race at Knoxville,” said Capitani, who in 2005 earned his ninth Promotor of the Year honor from the North American Sprint Car Poll. “I am pleased they will be running with us in 2006.”

DIRT MotorSports and the World of Outlaws Sprint Series continue to shape the 2006 schedule and look forward to the series’ 29th year of bringing the best collection of sprint car racers from coast to coast for what will no doubt be one of the most competitive seasons in series history.
