by Bill Wright - Justin Henderson (pictured) was rocking and rolling in Thursday night qualifying action, until the A main came around. Henderson was the final 2005 Knoxville regular to qualify for Saturday's Chili Bowl finale.

Driving a team car to owner/driver Donnie Lehmann, Henderson was slated to start 8th in Heat 6. After storming forward to finish third in the event, Justin started fourth and finished third in A Qualifier number four. The combination of passing points was enough to land the Sioux Falls native outside row six for the main event. Unfortunately, he would not be able to start the event. Henderson will try it again in prime time on Saturday night, joining other 2005 regulars, Don Droud Jr., Wayne Johnson and Billy Alley.

2001 Chili Bowl champion Jay Drake won Thursday's feature event ahead of Indiana's Jon Stanbrough, California youngster Garrett Hansen and Pennsylvania's Steve Buckwalter. Those four drivers locked themselves into Saturday night's Chili Bowl Championship main event. 89 midgets competed in the event. The final night of qualifying will be Friday night.
