McCarl Tops Night #2 of ASCS King of 360s

by Bill Wright - Terry McCarl (pictured with crew) drove Mark Burch's #1m and outlasted Travis Rilat to win night two of the ASCS Ronald Laney “King of the 360s” Friday night at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, FL. The six-time track champion leads all point totals heading into Saturday night’s $10,000 to win finale. Following McCarl and Rilat across the line were Jason Sides, Nick Smith and Tim Montgomery. 80 cars representing a highly competitive field took to the track Friday night.
1975 Knoxville track champion and 2005 Masters Classic winner Roger Rager keeps on ticking in the Kevin Frey #2K. Rager finished third in his heat, second in his qualifier and eleventh in the main event.
410 regular and 2005 Sprint Invaders champ, Jesse Giannetto had a long night of racing after finishing fourth in his heat, sixth in the qualifier and second in his B main. He would make a nice charge from 20th and finish in the thirteenth spot.
360 regular Josh Higday had a rough night finishing seventh in his heat and third in a last chance race. Johnny Anderson’s night was not much better as he finished sixth in a heat, won a Last Chance race, finished ninth in a qualifier and ended his night with an eleventh place finish in his B.
Wayne Johnson, subbing in the Sather 94s, and still looking for a 2005 sprint ride, finished sixth in his heat, won a last chance race, finished eighth in a qualifier and faded in his B.
2005 360 track champ, Jake Peters, didn’t fare any better as he finished eighth in his heat and ended his night third in a last chance race.
