Howard Benefit a Big Success!

from Chad Adams - The racing community strikes again to help a racing fan that needed us most. In the winter months, Patty and Mark Orr of Oskaloosa had an idea to help raise some $ for a really close friend. As they were trying to help Lori and her family with a fundraiser, I told them why not include some awesome racing items for our racing community to bid on to take home. Lori was a huge racing fan, went to Knoxville each week and other racing events. There was overwhelming excitement from Des Moines/Knoxville area to anywhere from California, Washington, Ohio, Indiana and many racing vendors. We had over 105 companies/individuals help donate to make this all possible. After the dust had settled, we raised over $8500.00.
When thinking all of the great help from JP Auto Body of Chico California, Knoxville Raceway, Craig Dollansky Racing, Terry McCarl Motorsports, Ron and Betty Davis of Melcher, Deb Swanson of Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series, and McKenna Truck Center. There is no way we could have made that night of January 28th so special. I really want to thank the food vendors for really helping me out to make sure that everyone had something to satisfy their hunger. Sara Lee Baking Group, Southridge Hy-Vee, Knoxville Hy-Vee, Fareway of Knoxville, Wells Blue Bunny, Northecoate Meats, Columbia Iowa Fire Department and John Morrell Meats.
I want to give a huge thanks for everyone that has helped out on this great cause. I really want to thank all the great racefans that could attend the event. The long distance fan contributor was "Carwash Mike" of San Jose, CA. Not only did he fly into Des Moines, but he was showing what being a "hoser" is all about.
