Knoxville Raceway is preparing for its second, hotly contested, points races of the 2006 season with the Justice Brothers/Gillund Enterprises Night this Saturday.

In the Season Opener on April 22nd, over 80 teams competed in the action- packed winged 360-cubic-inch and 410-cubic-inch sprint car classes. Taking top honors and the checkered flag in the 410 class was Terry McCarl (Big Game Tree Stands), who is no stranger to the podium in Knoxville. Following McCarl in the next three places were Skip Jackson (Mid-Land Equipment), 2005 champion Kerry Madsen (TK Concrete) and Clint Garner (Midwest Excavating).

In the 360 feature, victory lane fans saw Chuck Swenson win his first feature ever in Knoxville. He was followed closely by fellow South Dakotan Jake Peters (Folkens Brothers Trucking), Kansan John Kearney, and Iowan Jeff Mitrisin.

As the points chase continues on Saturday, another large contingent of sprint cars and hotly contested races can be expected with a good weather forecast for the weekend.

The Knoxville Raceway host over 30 races throughout the season in a fun-filled family atmosphere. Located just 35 miles Southeast of Des Moines on Highway 14, the Raceway is one of the largest outdoor stadiums in Iowa and plays host to the legendary Knoxville Nationals August 9-12.
