8 Features, 8 Winners! Who will it be on Wal-Mart night?

by Bill Wright (www.knoxvilleraceway.com) – Memorial Day Weekend approaches and there still hasn’t been a repeat winner at the Knoxville Raceway! Will this be the week? Don’t count on it, as there have been four features run in both the 410 and 360 classes, and no one has made a return to Victory Lane yet. Be there to see for yourself if it will happen this Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway. Hot laps commence at 6:45 p.m.

Knoxville’s 410 pilots are chasing last week’s feature winner, Brian Brown, right now. The Higginsville, MO native is on a roll and holds a healthy 195 point lead over Aussie Skip Jackson in the point standings. South Dakota’s Clint Garner, Aussie Kerry Madsen and Oklahoma’s Wayne Johnson are looking to position themselves within striking distance of the driver of Tim and Gina Doogs’ #21.

Brown dominated last week’s affair, leading wire to wire over Jackson, Johnson, Garner and Madsen who will be persistent all year. Kaley Gharst, Billy Alley, Jesse Giannetto and Calvin Landis round out the top ten in the current standings. Lynton Jeffrey, Tim St. Arnold, Matt Moro, Chad Meyer and the leader in the Rookie of the Year standings to date, Dusty Zomer (pictured), will also be ready for action this Saturday night.

A star is born in the 360 class, as Dustin Lindquist drove a great race to victory last weekend. The Floodwood, MN native used a late caution restart to fly around Johnny Anderson to the popular win. The caution came when fourth running, John Kearney, got into the back of early race leader Brett Mather, and flattened a tire. Anderson was able to hold onto second. Lindquist has served notice that he not only is a contender for Rookie of the Year honors, but he is also in the mix for a points championship.

Jeff Mitrisin has made a habit of charging from the rear of the field to a solid finish, and last week was no different. Mitrisin maintained his point lead and now leads Anderson by seven. Rookie, Jon Corbin joined defending champ, Jake Peters, who returned from a groundpounder a week ago, to come out of the B for top six finishes.

Behind Mitrisin and Anderson, Stacey Alexander and Kearney are tied for third in the standings, while Lindquist has risen to fifth. Peters sits sixth, followed by Josh Higday, who crashed hard to start last week’s feature, Joe Beaver, Mather and Frankie Heimbaugh. Corbin, Troy Meyer, Josh Schneiderman, Tom Lenz, Mike Houseman Jr., John Schulz, Rick Ideus, Dustin Selvage, Nate Mosher and Mitchell Alexander will join a host of others in hopes for victory this Saturday night!

$12 tickets are all general admission. 14 and under tickets will be $3. For more information, tune in to www.knoxvilleraceway.com.
