Factory Value Parts World Challenge Qualifier Slated for Castrol Raceway in Western Canada this Saturday

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (May 31, 2006) - The fifth and final international qualifier for Knoxville Raceway’s Factory Value Parts World Challenge is slated for this Saturday, June 3, at the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Those Fountain Tire Alberta Sprint Tour (AST) drivers from western Canada that participate in this Saturday’s event will automatically become eligible to start in the $10,000-to-win World Challenge invitational which will be held on Friday, August 11, during the 46th annual SuperClean Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals.
Amongst those Albertans expected to compete at the Castrol Raceway are former World of Outlaws (WoO) regular Tim Gee, Marc Duperon, Tyler Pinceman, Sean Moran, Geoff Beck, Gord Kynoch, Casey Adams, Todd Sparks, Paul Rolo, Dennis MacEachern, Stuart Selby, and past Knoxville International Driver Development (KIDD) program candidates Jesse Dakus and Kyle Bates. Castrol Raceway was formerly known as the Budweiser Motorsports Park.
According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph Capitani, “We know the vast majority of Alberta Sprint Tour drivers won’t be competing in our Knoxville ‘410’ Nationals in mid-August, but we are hoping that one or two will see an opportunity to represent Canada in this global sprint car competition. It is the same reason that we held an international qualifier at the Ohsweken Speedway in eastern Canada last September. And, of course, all of us at Knoxville Raceway would love to see Tim Gee or Jeff Hodgson come back and compete at the Marion County Fairgrounds!”
Previous 2006 Factory Value Parts World Challenge qualifiers have been held at the Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada; the Powerbuilt Speedway in Christchurch, South Island, New Zealand; the Premier Speedway on the grounds of the Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia; and the Todd & Pollock Speedway on the grounds of the Baypark Stadium in Mount Maunganui, North Island, New Zealand. The Factory Value Parts World Challenge was known for years as the Kele World Challenge and then the Clean-O World Challenge.
Amongst those already qualified for the 2006 World Challenge are such international stars as Craig Dollansky, Robbie Farr, Brian Brown, Max Dumesny, Donny Schatz, Allan Wakeling, Paul McMahan, Glenn Styres, Jamie McDonald, Daryn Pittman, Brooke Tatnell, Kerry Jones, Brad Sweet, Garry Brazier, Blake Robertson, Adam West, Kurt Winker, Stevie Walsh, Jason Johnson, and Chad Kemenah.
