Thursday, June 8, 2006
Two-time defending champion Daryn Pittman of Owasso, Oklahoma, and up-and-comer Jason Johnson of Eunice, Louisiana, have signaled their intentions of representing the U.S.A. in the $10,000-to-win Factory Value Parts World Challenge at the Knoxville Raceway on Friday, August 11. Both have officially entered the Friday night finale during the 46th annual SuperClean Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals, presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers. According to Pittman, “The World Challenge at Knoxville is a great representation of our team, being Australian-owned with an American driver. The Knoxville Nationals represents the best drivers in the world and it is the Super Bowl of sprint car racing.”

Pittman and Johnson both qualified for the Factory Value Parts World Challenge by competing in the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at the Premier Speedway on the grounds of the Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, back in January. Daryn, the World Challenge champion in 2004 and ’05, will wheel the Reeve Kruck-owned, Titan Garages & Carports-sponsored Maxim number 21, with support from Hop & Sack Convenience Stores. Jason, who finished seventh last year in the World Challenge, will pilot the Lanny Row-owned, Wesmar-powered Eagle sprinter number 41, with support from The Shop Motorsports and Custom Equipment Designs (CED). Pittman is currently fifth in World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Series points, while Johnson is fifth in American Sprint Cars on Tour (ASCoT) points.

The current entry list for the 13th annual Factory Value Parts World Challenge is as follows:

21, Daryn Pittman, Owasso, OK, USA, Titan/Maxim, 1st – 2004, ‘05

41, Jason Johnson, Eunice, LA, USA, Wesmar/Eagle, 7th – 2005
