The Stakes are Raised as Carquest Presents Mid-Season Championships!!!

by Bill Wright (www.knoxvilleraceway.com) – Drivers will be shooting for an increased purse this Saturday night, June 17, at Knoxville Raceway as Carquest Autoparts presents the Mid-Season Championships. Hot laps get underway at 6:45 p.m.
Is it midseason already? It’s hard to believe, but much of the action is still ahead of us in 2006. Brian Brown continues to lead the 410 standings in Tim and Gina Doogs #21. His consistencies throughout the season and his win here on May 20 have landed him 160 points ahead of two-time track champion Skip Jackson. The veteran Jackson has also shown to be worthy of the challenge in the J&S Autosports #2 machine. Skip is still looking for his first win of 2006. Both will be joined by the usual contingent in shooting for the winner’s share of $3,500!
Jeff Mitrisin has had a steady season in the Steve Wares #10 to lead the 360 rankings ahead of John Kearney. Only eleven points separate Kearney in second to defending 360 champ Jake Peters in fifth. In between the two, sit Stacey Alexander and Johnny Anderson, who are tied for third. The 360 sprints will be vying for $1,500 to win!
Jason Johnson, from Eunice, LA has racked up seven wins this season is ASCS 360 competition. The 2004 410 Knoxville Raceway Rookie of the Year has Knoxville on his schedule for Saturday. He is pre-entered for August’s Super Clean Knoxville Nationals, the 360 Nationals and the Factory Parts World Challenge. He is also expected to compete in the Brodix 360 Tournament of Champions in Lanny Row's #41.
With a couple of traveling series racing in the region, with extra cash on the line, and with the night off on Saturday, who knows who may pull into Knoxville Saturday night? Be there to find out!!!
