Cox Design Southern Iowa Sprintweek Entries Roll In

Entries for events during the Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa Sprintweek, August 3-12, continue to be received by event organizers at the Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway. Amongst the latest entries are from New Zealander Jamie McDonald for the Factory Value Parts World Challenge, and from American Sprint Cars on Tour (ASCoT) national point leader Nick Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Winged Outlaw Warriors (WOW) racer Toby Brown of Carthage, Missouri, for the Brodix Tournament of Champions, respectively.
According to Knoxville director of racing Ralph Capitani, “If you’re a sprint car fan anywhere in the world, you’re going to want to head to the state of Iowa in early August for ten straight nights of sprint car racing at two great half-mile county fairgrounds dirt tracks which are located just 26 miles from each other. You’ll see the best-of-the-best in non-winged and winged 360- and 410-cubic-inch sprint cars go at it for record purses over the ten-day run at Oskaloosa and Knoxville. And, if the Cox Design Southern Iowa Sprintweek events weren’t enough to hold your attention, we’ve got the great Iowa State Fair going on just 35 miles to the north in Des Moines on the afternoons of August 10-20!”
Jamie McDonald of Birkenhead Point, North Island, New Zealand, will pilot Lynton Jeffrey’s Vortex-winged 410-cubic-inch Haigh Blocks/J&J sprinter number 3NZ, which is sponsored by the Western Springs Speedway, Vortex Racing Products, Haigh Blocks and Legend Graphics. McDonald is ‘inversion eligible’ for the Friday, August 11, Factory Value Parts World Challenge as a result of qualifying at both the Mount Maunganui and Ruapuna venues on the north and south islands of New Zealand, respectively. Jamie is expected to compete in the Monday, August 7, ‘410’ Front Row Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, in addition to the August 5 and 9-12 events at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Knoxville. This year's 46th annual Knoxville Nationals is sponsored by SuperClean and presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers.
Nick Smith of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, will wheel his own Ostrich-powered J&J sprint car number 15s, which is sponsored by Smith Trucking, Ostrich Racing Engines, J&J Auto Racing, Weld Wheels, Pro Shocks, Simpson, ButlerBuilt Seats, Air Flow Wings and MPHG Promotions. Smith is the current national points leader for Emmett Hahn’s tough ASCoT ‘360’ series.
Toby Brown of Carthage, Missouri, steers Terry Brown’s Wesmar/J&J sprinter number 61A, which is sponsored by ABF Truck Rebuilders, ABF Graphix & Designs, Real Wheels, Wesmar Racing Engines, Hoosier Tire and K&N Filters. Brown currently runs fifth in the WOW ‘360’ series in Missouri. Both Smith and Brown are expected to compete in the August 3-5 Knoxville 360 Nationals, presented by NAPA and John Deere/Steenhoek Implement, and the August 6 Brodix Tournament of Champions invitational at Knoxville.
