Knoxville Raceway Amends 2006 Wing Rule

Wednesday, June 28, 2006
Wing Rule Amendment

The following addition to the 2006 rule book will be in effect for all remaining shows including the Knoxville Nationals.

Wings:
*Side Board Panels
“Top Wing sideboards maximum size, 72 inches long and 30 inches tall. Panels may not measure more then 84” on a diagonal measurement from all outside corners. Panels must be of one-piece construction. Panels must be fabricated flat so as to have no turnouts or flaps made of more than 2 inches of material on the front or rear of panel and no more than 1 1/4 inches on the top or bottom. Panels must be mounted parallel and square to the center foil with no more then 2 ½” of turnout as measured from the center foil. “
At this time we feel we do not have enough time to fairly evaluate the changes in wing design that were used at the June 23 show at Knoxville. It is our opinion that due to their marked change in appearance and possible aero advantages they should not be allowed this season.
As always any changes by manufacturers that are both visibly and performance enhancing beyond the norm should be approved by Knoxville Raceway prior to the next years point season.
