Modifieds, Late Models & Sprints at K-ville, July 20-21-22

Thursday, July 20, 2006
History will be made on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, July 20-21-22, as Knoxville Raceway, for the first time ever, will host modifieds, late models, and sprint cars on three consecutive nights as part of a new 3-D promotion (“Dirt, Dogs and Drinks”). Fans wanting to be part of the three-feat can call the Raceway at 641-842-5431 and save ten dollars off the combined ticket price for the trio of quality motorsports promotions featuring the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA) modifieds in the Thursday night Harris Clash, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series stock cars in the Friday night Iowa Telecom Shoot-Out, and the Interstate Racing Association (IRA) vs. Knoxville’s own winged 410-cubic-inch sprint cars in the Saturday night Iowa Telecom Summer Classic.

Thanks to four Citadel Broadcasting Corporation radio stations (KGGO, KJJY, KWOW, and KBGG), fans purchasing three-night 3-D passes will also receive coupons for free drinks and hot dogs. According to Knoxville Raceway director of racing Ralph Capitani, “The days of just opening the gates and expecting the fans to flood in are over for American short-tracks. We know we need to get more creative with our marketing efforts, and thanks to great sponsors like Bob Harris, Cookies Barbeque Sauces, Citadel and Iowa Telecom, we’re able to give our fans the opportunity to see the likes of Johnny Saathoff, John Logue, Kelly Shryock, Earl Pearson (Jr.), Don O’Neal, Donnie Moran, Matt Miller, Scott James, Freddy Smith, Brian Brown, Billy Alley, ‘Skip’ Jackson, Travis Whitney, Mike Reinke and Scotty Neitzel over three straight nights. If this isn’t a dream mini-vacation for short-track fans anywhere, I don’t know what is!”

In addition, dirt track racing over the three nights will include the IMCA Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, Midwest 305 Sprint Cars, and Knoxville’s ultra-competitive winged 360 c.i. sprint cars, respectively. Scott Durlin, Jason Mallicoat, Scott Davis, Bob Hildreth, Larry Webb, Rod Richards, Jake Peters, Jeff Mitrisin, and John Kearney will lead these exciting divisions into action on the half-mile Marion County Fairgrounds oval.
