Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Readies for Visit to Knoxville Raceway on July 21

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will makes its first ever appearance at the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA on Friday Night, July 21. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take to the track for the "Iowa Telecom Summer Classic" with a complete show featuring Comp Cams Time Trials, PBM Performance Product Heat Races, Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Penske Shocks B-Main and the $10,000 to win and $700 to start A-Main. The cameras of SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape the main event which will be shown on a date and time to be announced in the future.

Since Knoxville began running weekly back in 1954 this will only be the 36th ever stock car race at the Marion County Fairgounds track. Earlier this season Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI added his name to the list of previous winners at Knoxville which include Ernie Derr, Ramo Stott, Don White, Butch Hartman, Chuck McWilliams, Curt Hansen, Jack Boggs, Billy Moyer, Steve Kosiski, Willy Kraft, Rick Aukland, Jeff Aikey, Gary Webb and others including the last two Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals winners, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA and Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has completed 17 events so far in 2006 with 11 different drivers entering victory lane. Earl Pearson, Jr of Jacksonville, FL the 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion is again on top of the points standings by a scant margin over last year's series runnerup, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN. Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH a four time "World 100" winner at Eldora Speedway and the only driver to win a one million dollar race on dirt back in 2001 is third in the series points heading to Knoxville with last year's $100,000 Eldora Dream winner Matt Miller of Waterville, OH fourth followed by this year's Eldora Dream runnerup, Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN.

Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN sits in sixth in the current points and is leading the series 2006 "Rookie of the Year" chase. Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV, Freddy Smith of Seymour, TN who is celebrating 40 years of racing in 2006, Brady Smith of Solon Springs, WI and Corey Conley of Wellsburg, WV are the rest of the top ten currently for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

Scott Bloomquist the 2005 Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals winner leads the victory list so far this season with four wins followed by two each for Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR and Earl Pearson, Jr. Other drivers with triumphs this season include: Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, Matt Miller, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, PA, Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL and Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV.

Admission prices for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event and the companion Midwest 305 winged Sprint series at Knoxville Raceway on July 21 will be $20 for general admission tickets with general admission children tickets at $10.
