Knoxville, Iowa - September 24- Rob Akers from the western Iowa town of Walnut captured the annual Fall Enduro 200 at Knoxville Raceway Sunday night. He received $1,000 for his efforts in the two-hour event which had been weather-postponed from September 9.

The race, which was marked by numerous (9) red flags for safety reasons, saw the top two finishers disqualified for mechanical illegalities. Akers was in the right spot at the right time at the end and was awarded the win.

Phil Wares of Des Moines was in charge of the race for the first 50 laps with Matt Sanderson of Knoxville and Mike Goff of Lacona trailing him. Just after the one hour mark Goff had secured the lead on the famous half-mile oval. Wares would stay in contention but would finally drop after 100-laps had been completed.

Annual contender, Mark Fee of Knoxville, took control of the race at that century mark. His closest challengers, who were running second and third, would later be disqualified.

With only twelve minutes to go, Fee, who was running in heavy traffic spun his car completely around in turn three but managed to keep going. Soon after that his vehicle began belching smoke and shortly there after he parked his car having completed 150 laps.

When the race reached the two hours point the checkered flag was thrown with only 24 of the 70-car starting field still running. Goff was second and Dave Vander Hart of Knoxville was third.
