Knoxville Raceway has completed incorporating the new 305 Sprint Rules into the overall 2007 Rule Book for all classes including 410 and 360 Sprints. This review considers safety, compatibility with the usual and customary Tech process and any last minute changes in components availability.

The updates include four additional block casting numbers, an update on the available Dart head part numbers, simplification of a number of technical sections and identification of those specifications that are readily accessible for review. The key to all the rules: 1). Safety for competitors, fans and officials, 2). Encompasses the greatest number of existing and potential competitors in our primary geographic area, and 3). Provides competitive and exciting racing for the fans.

The six-date schedule has also been updated to identify the various formats that the 305 drivers and teams will race under in 2007. Two of the events running on April 28th and June 15th will use the regular format; draw for heat line-ups, heads-up lineups for the C, B and A features. The June 1st date will feature both the Masters Classic and the 305s running the identical formats – Time Trials, inverted heats, and head’s up C, B and A features.

The 3-day Knoxville 305 Sprint Mid-States Championships will utilize the same rules as the Knoxville Late Model Nationals – two preliminary events on Thursday and Friday with Time Trials, inverted heats, C, B and A features – all awarding points to the drivers. The top 20 in points go to the Saturday A, next 15 to the B, and next 15 to the C. However, everyone can run again on Friday - Knoxville takes the higher of the two nights as the official preliminary points for the Saturday lineups. Both nights pay a complete purse. On Saturday night the top five in the C move to the B, and the top four in the B move to the A.

The 305-Specific rules are posted at www.knoxvilleraceway.com under the Rules section. They can be printed off at home. The rest of the 2007 rules will be posted later this week. For more information, contact Bruce Neimeth at brucen@knoxvilleraceway.com or by calling (641) 842-5431.
