2006 Northern Sprint Tour (NST) "Rookie of the Year" Seth Bergman of Snohomish, Washington, is the first official entrant for the ninth annual Brodix Tournament of Champions (ToC) winged 360-cubic-inch sprint car race at the Knoxville Raceway, to be held on Sunday, August 5. Bergman has entered representing the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series (NSCS), which is one of 25 sanctioning affiliates for the one-day invitational utilizing the ASCS Brodix spec head. 2006 ASCoT champion Gary Wright and runner-up Jason Johnson finished 1-2, respectively, in last August’s Brodix ToC.

Bergman will pilot the Steve Bergman-owned, Whitman Engines-powered Eagle sprint car number 23, which is sponsored by Corridor Electric, Whitman Engines, Sno-Lynn Machine, bWyse.com and Powder Coating, Inc. The NSCS, which is administered by veteran sprint car racers Dick and (daughter) Shawna Wilskey, is a brand new organization in the Pacific Northwest with its roots coming from the late Fred Brownfield’s successful Northern Sprint Tour (NST). The NSCS 'Road to the Tournament' begins this weekend at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington, and concludes on the Brodix ToC entry deadline date of Wednesday, July 25, at the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon, during the NSCS SpeedWeek.

NST had a proud history in the 30-car Brodix ToC, with Oregon's Roger Crockett posting a runner-up finish in 2004 to winner Loren Langerud of WISSOTA. Crockett also drove from 19th to 8th in 2003, while Washington's Ricky Fauver drove from 17th to 12th in the 2005 edition. Last year, Oregon's Danny Horner raced from 28th to 6th, which has been the all-time 'hard charge' in the eight-year history of the Brodix Tournament of Champions (Knoxville's own Steve Breazeale gained 21 positions in the inaugural event in 1997 at Knoxville, and Mike Woodring of ESS did the same in '98 at Eldora Speedway). Roger Crockett and British Columbia's Chris Schmelzle were both NST DNQ's in 2006.

The twenty-five sanctioning affiliates, each of whom can send their ten best teams to Knoxville for the 2007 Tournament, are as follows (from Australia, Canada and the United States of America):

The Brodix Tournament of Champions will once again be a points-paying round of the sixth annual Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Southern Iowa SprintWeek, August 2-11, between the Knoxville and Oskaloosa dirt tracks.
