Kenny Jacobs & Tim Gee Enter Masters Classic

Four-time All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) titlist and soon-to-be National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Kenny Jacobs of Holmesville, Ohio, is the latest entrant for the fifteenth annual Knoxville Masters Classic to be run on Friday, June 1, at Knoxville Raceway. “The Mouse” joins former World of Outlaws (WoO) regulars Tim Gee of LeDuc, Alberta, Canada, and Shane Carson of Yukon, Oklahoma, on the entry list. Fellow soon-to-be Hall of Famer Carson is the defending Masters Classic champion, while Gee is the defending Alberta Sprint Tour (AST) champion.
According to Knoxville’s director of racing Ralph Capitani, “The Masters Classic for drivers age fifty-plus is really taking on a life of its own lately. We are thrilled to be drawing sprint car champions from around North America for this unique event. The winners’ list is a ‘Who’s Who’ of sprint car racing with the likes of Rick Ferkel of Ohio, Billy Engelhart of Wisconsin, Roger Rager of Minnesota, Terry Pletch of Indiana, Mike Peters of Kansas, Jimmy Sills of California, and Shane Carson of Oklahoma. Of course, we are very proud of Iowa’s own Jerry Crabb, who defeated all the invaders in 1998.”
Kenny Jacobs will wheel Barry Jackson’s Kistler-powered JEI chassis number 8J sprinter in the Masters Classic. His winged 360-cubic-inch sprinter is sponsored by Rick’s Auto, Classic Turning, Inc., and Pro Shocks. Tim Gee, who turns fifty on May 31, will steer Ruth Gee’s Shark-powered Maxim chassis sprinter number 4, which is sponsored by North American Diesel Performance, Carlan Services, Western Hard Chrome, McKinney Machine, and City Furniture.
Knoxville Raceway will host an open track practice for the Masters Classic competitors on Thursday, May 31, from 7 until 9 p.m. The Knoxville Masters Classic & 305 Shootout will take place on Friday, June 1, starting at 6:45 p.m. The Carquest Night of 360- and 410-cubic-inch sprinters will conclude the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction weekend of racing on Saturday, June 2, also starting at 6:45 p.m.
