Wednesday, May 30, 2007
– Knoxville Raceway’s two-day race program this weekend will be a chance for fans of all types of racing to watch drivers - from 16 to over 70 years of age – challenge the fast ½ mile dirt track in winged Sprint Cars. And don’t let the ages fool you.

Friday night’s Double Header features the Masters Classic for veteran drivers age 50+. With a field of 24 already entered from as far away as Texas, Alberta Canada, New Jersey and Michigan, the names will bring back memories of great racing across the USA from the ‘70s, ‘80s & ‘90s. Names like Shane Carson, Kenny Jacobs, Mike Peters, Earnest Jennings, Dale McCarty and Indy veteran Roger Rager.

The “305” Shootout features youngsters who have cut their teeth on the dirt in Karts and Min-Sprints before moving up to the “305” Sprint Cars in recent years. With the Knoxville age-limit of 16, some have been running for a number of years and just became eligible for Knoxville this year. The 23 entries include local and regional drivers including Josh Padellford, just turned 16, and Trish Dover, the young lady from Nebraska that came close to becoming the first female driver to win a Feature event in the 54 year history of Knoxville Raceway on May 27th. Well out in front with 7 laps remaining she cut a tire on debris. Restarting on the tail, she still had a top-10 finish. By the way, the youngsters will have some stiff competition from some veterans of the Sprint Car wars including Bob Lamb, Bob Hildreth, Steve Brezeale and one of today’s top “410” drivers, Clint Garner.

Saturday night will feature week #7 of the 2007 Knoxville Championship Cup Series for the “360” & “410” Sprint Cars. With over 65 cars expectedto challenge current points leaders Josh Higday - "360"s, and Kaley Gharst - "410"s, the field will be even more exciting as Kenny Jacobs will take on the Knoxville “410”s – after he is inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon. Also expected in the "410"s will be Travis Rilat fresh off a number of big East Coast wins. While we’re talking about the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Shane Carson will be inducted on Saturday – after he tries to win his second Masters Classic on Friday.

Admission prices for both nights are $12.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Children 14 and under.
