Brian Shirley wins night two of Late Model Nationals

Saturday, September 29, 2007
Brian Shirley, Billy Moyer and Brady Smith put on a picture perfect show of aggressive driving with maximum car control on the dry slick ½ mile for the last 10 laps of the 25 lap feature. But in the end it was Shirley by about a car length for the second night of the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals and a $6K check. Moyer took the lead at the green flag and looked like he would pull off the perfect night with fast time, winning his heat and the A main. He came up one position short.

All three are locked into the 100-lap championship main on Saturday along with another 23 drivers based on points from the two qualifying nights. The balance of the field will run a “C” and “B” main with the top 6 filling out the 30-car field for the $35,000-to-win, $2000 to start feature. All of the past champions, Shirley, Bloomquist and Birkhofer are locked in.

A complete result will be posted `later tonight along with the lineups for Saturday.
