1983 Results and Stories Up in Historical Results Section!

(Bill W) - The year was 1983 and Sammy Swindell was the man to beat. Sammy won five times in Raymond Beadle's #1 at Knoxville that season, including his only career Knoxville Nationals win in a race where he utilized an aluminum motor for the first time. Randy Smith captured another track championship driving the McCarl/Jensen Construction #55. Mackie Heimbaugh won the first 360 (modified) sprint championship on the strength of six wins in a row in the Zoutte #30.
