Knoxville Drivers Continuing Winning Ways Worldwide This Winter!

(Bill W) Knoxville regulars have left the cold weather behind, as several have had success over the winter racing in venues in the South and the Southern Hemisphere. The drivers we get to enjoy each and every weekend at Knoxville are thrilling crowds worldwide!

Little Rock, Arkansas native Ricky Logan has been spectacular in New Zealand. In 14 feature events, he has won half (7) of them, including three each at the Western Springs Speedway in Auckland and Robertson Holden International Speedway in Palmerston.

Mark Dobmeier, the 2007 410 Rookie of the Year at Knoxville made his first visit to Australia this off-season. Driving the Kendrick #92, Mark posted three wins in Western Australia. The native of Grand Forks, North Dakota posted two wins at Northam Motorsports Park, and another at Esperance Motor Raceway. A trip to the eastern side of the continent saw some tough competition, but Mark did manage a fifth place finish in the Grand Annual Classic at Premier Speedway behind winner Kerry Madsen, Jason Johnson, Max Dumesny and Brooke Tatnell. Not bad!

Skip Jackson returned to his homeland to capture a victory at Parramatta City Raceway near his hometown of Sydney on January 12. Skip has four top ten finishes there this winter in six feature runs. Lynton Jeffrey also has gotten some runs in back in Australia. Both tried to compete in the Australian Sprintcar Championship at PCR last weekend, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate. They will try again on Saturday.

Kaley Gharst will head to Australia for the first time in a couple of weeks. He will drive for John Farrell, who is the father of Ryan Farrell, his teammate at Knoxville late last Summer. Gharst is currently driving Guy Webb's #51 in Florida action.

Rager Phillips is headed to Volusia Speedway to compete with the All Stars and World of Outlaws this week. The All Stars will run tonight through Thursday, and the WoO will begin their season as they compete Friday through Sunday.

The East Bay Raceway (Tampa, FL) "King of the 360's" and $10,000 went to former Knoxville regular Jason Johnson last weekend. Following him to the stripe were 1998 360 Nationals Champion Gary Wright and six-time track champion Terry McCarl. Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Fred Rahmer took All Star races at the North Florida Speedway.

Track champions Brian Brown and Billy Alley recently announced exciting news. Brown has inked SuperClean as his primary sponsor. Look for a purple #21 this year at Knoxville. Alley has teamed with Shane Sterling to form SA Racing. The familiar #22 will be back at Knoxville on Saturday nights and primary sponsorship will come from Delta Oil.
