What’s New with Knoxville’s Regulars?

(Joanne Cram) So, in case you hadn’t heard, it’s winter. Knoxville just got dumped with almost a foot of snow and that makes it even easier to dream of the spring nights of racing just around the corner! With only February and March to go, April seems like its so close- but still so far away!

I checked in with as many drivers as I could track down, so here are some updates on what they are planning for next year. There will be more updates to follow, as I have numerous emails and phone calls unreturned.

I spoke with Dustin Selvage, the number 7 360 car. He has joined forces with the always fast, Johnny "Lightning" Anderson. Anderson’s family has decided to hang up car ownership of the 7a car, freeing up Johnny’s expansive knowledge to join another team. A fellow Indianola native, Dustin is really looking forward to having Johnny so near by- making race car night easier to schedule. Selvage is continuing to add sponsors to their program as the winter dwindles down.

Billy Alley is another driver who will be exciting to watch this season. He is back in the family owned, yellow number 22 410 sprint. Alley plans to race weekly at Knoxville and also put a 360 in for some Midwest shows throughout the spring and summer.

Defending Midwest ASCS Champion, Natalie Sather plans to be back at Knoxville running some of the weekly shows in her 94s 360, out of Fargo, North Dakota. She had a lot of fun racing down here as much as she was able to and is looking forward to returning this spring.

Blown motors were a part of so many drivers’ lives last season! Tony Shilling was among those drivers struggling with motors last year, and for 2008 he hopes to have a more consistent run with his motors. The team has new Eagle chassis and will be back competing weekly in the 410 class with the 47T car. Shilling also plans to run some 360 shows with the Sprint Invaders and at Burlington.

One car you won’t see at Knoxville regularly is the Vermeer 55. Kerry Madsen is back in the seat, and the team has worked hard this winter to get sponsorship lined up to take their program Outlaw Racing. Good Luck this season Vermeer team!

Seth Brahmer will once again be returning to Knoxville to run weekly competition. Brahmer, of Wisner, Nebraska, makes the lengthy haul each weekend to bring his family’s Brahmer Trucking 410 to Knoxville’s half mile.

Several other Knoxville regulars are back to ‘business as usual’ for the weekly shows. Travis Cram will continue to drive the yellow 17g this season for Ed and Theresa Gifford, with Woody returning as crew chief. Calvin Landis is also returning in his familiar number 70 again this season, hoping to pick up a few extra shows as well. Landis stated that he has updated sponsorship information on his website also.
