Out of Town Drivers Give Knoxville a Look

(Joanne Cram) There’s no secret that if you want to race competitively, Knoxville is the place to be. Drivers from all over the country have made Knoxville their temporary homes, and many have even made Knoxville their permanent homes after racing temporarily over the summers. Drivers such as Jaymie Moyle, Skip Jackson and Lynton Jeffrey of Australia, Calvin Landis of Arizona, Travis Cram of Washington, Ricky Logan of Arkansas and many more, have made Knoxville home due to the fact that this is the place to race! Where else can you find up to five nights of racing a week within an 8 hour drive?

For that reason alone, several drivers are looking towards summering in Knoxville, at least for the weekends. One such driver is Larry Neighbors of Oklahoma City, a familiar name around racing and at Knoxville and the Midwest. Larry is among drivers looking at Knoxville to be his weekend summer home for racing. Neighbors has a young son and a new baby on the way and is hoping to team up with a team closer to Knoxville so he is able to stay home in Oklahoma during the week. Planning to continue running with his 360 ASCS team around Oklahoma, Neighbors would love the opportunity to race 410s on the big Knoxville track. With two Gaerte 410 motors (one brand new, another with one race on it) to offer a program, Neighbors is looking for a quality team to join forces with on a weekly basis at Knoxville. Larry can be contacted at larry.neighbors@sbcglobal.net.

Another driver looking to team up this season is Shane Paris of Muscatine. Shane is 24 years old with nine years racing experience. He has a complete car to offer, without a motor, as well as a full time crew chief Duane Moore, hired by Shane. Duane has worked with several USAC championship teams. Shane is looking for a car owner to join efforts with to run at Knoxville and some specials in the 360 and/or 410 classes around Knoxville and the Midwest. Shane can be contacted via shaneparis_25c@hotmail.com.

These are just a couple of the talented drivers looking to better their careers by racing at Knoxville Raceway. We hope both drivers are able to put something together to run at Knoxville, we’d love to see the competition!
