A Way to Help Your Favorite Driver!

(Joanne Cram) As if last summer’s record setting $3.00 and higher per gallon gas prices weren’t enough to choke most of us up, this summer’s projection of $4.00 and higher per gallon gas prices is enough to make us all just plain crazy.

What’s more, many of our drivers haul their trailers with diesel trucks, the cost of diesel fuel being even higher than the average gas-guzzling dually. Diesel is already averaging $3.83 per gallon, and is also projected to climb up towards the $5.00 per gallon mark by summer’s end.

It is going to cost quite a bit to get to Knoxville to race, and drivers are taking a new approach to the fuel crunch. Many are seeking fuel sponsorship help in order to run weekly at Knoxville. Without help in the fuel department, their commute to Knoxville Raceway could be a challenge at times.

What does this mean? This means that most of your long haul drivers need your help! Drivers from all over the Midwest that have run weekly shows at Knoxville, are now realizing that the cost of fuel to get here, paired with fuel and tires for their sprint cars, isn’t being offset with the amount of money it pays to run a race. But fans can help! Fans have always been huge supporters to their favorite drivers- especially in the area of fuel. A $20 bill left with a driver at the end of the night may not feel like that big of a deal to the giver, but if a few of us fans give a little “sponsorship” money, it adds up to being a huge help in the small racing budget of most drivers.

So if you have a favorite driver that you know has a long haul and you enjoy seeing them run weekly races here at Knoxville, consider helping them out with fuel sponsorship. Many drivers would appreciate this kind of sponsorship greatly.
