Tony Stewart Enters 5th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by SuperClean!
Knoxville, Iowa – Tony Stewart will again be in Knoxville, Iowa late this September to compete in the 5th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by SuperClean September 25-27, 2008. The entry received at the Knoxville Raceway will ensure Stewart's intention on a third consecutive appearance at the event.
In 2006, Stewart took second place in the national event just behind the #3s of Brian Shirley of Chatham, Illinois. When Stewart pulled into the pits after the finish everyone was surprised to see he had a flat tire.
In 2007, the #20 was scheduled to race but decided to focus on the Sprint Cup event in Kansas City that same weekend. Stewart felt he owed it to his Joe Gibbs Team to remain focused and healthy as he was sitting second in points when the chase began.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals, now in the 5th year, includes 66 of the top Late Model Drivers in the Nation competing in the three day event. Featuring a full program each night of racing, drivers will qualify on Thursday and may race again on Friday to improve their standings for the main show on Saturday, September 27th. The total purse for the three day event is $246,410 with the winner taking home $40,000 Saturday night.
Knoxville Raceway holds races most Saturday nights from mid April through September. Premier events include the Knoxville Championship Cup Series, USAC Midget Nationals, the Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals, 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil and the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.
