Point Races On the Line as Nationals Near!

(Bill W) Point races are on the line in the chase for the Knoxville Championship Cup as the 18th Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals and the 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil draw near! 3M Night this Saturday, July 26, will dictate a lot of drivers’ seasons in the ultra-competitive 410 and 360 sprint car classes!

Just four point races remain in the 410 class, and “The Dude” Danny Lasoski has used consistency to sit atop the standings in Guy Forbrook’s #5 sprinter. Billy “Tornado” Alley has teamed with SA Racing to field a formidable team each and every week and is 355 points behind the leader. Mark Dobmeier has heated up late this season and is third in the standings ahead of two-time feature winner Justin Henderson and defending track champion, “Blackjack” Brian Brown. Brown has used a series of solid finishes to climb into the top five.

Skip “Action” Jackson won for the 25th time in his career last Saturday and is sixth in the race ahead of Calvin Landis, young charger Davey Heskin, “Zoom Zoom” Dusty Zomer and “The Snake” Jake Peters. Expect plenty of visitors including Wayne Johnson to join the regular contingent as the 48th Annual SuperClean Knoxville Nationals presented by Lucas Oil loom on August 6-9!

Points are getting even more urgent for the 360 class, as just three point races remain. Matt Moro has built an 82 point lead in the standings by way of two straight feature wins. Only 39 points separate second from fifth in the standings, so a lot is yet to be decided. Brett Mather is runner-up at this stage, followed by Gregg Bakker. Josh Higday is the defending champ and won’t go down easy. He has surged to a close fourth in the race ahead of Dustin Selvage. Ryan Roberts, “The Bulldogg” Jesse Giannetto, Jon Agan, Joe Beaver and Natalie Sather round out the top ten.

With many of the 360 series having this weekend off preceding the 18th Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Nationals, there could be a host of invaders trying to take the big loot from the regulars!

We’ll see you at the Knoxville Raceway!
