Wayne Johnson Named Cox Design Iowa Speedweek "Mr. Sprint Car"... Again

It’s official… Wayne Johnson of Knoxville is “Mr. Sprint Car” for the second consecutive year after topping the ten-night Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points. The Knoxville 360 Nationals champion, who finished sixteenth in last night’s 48th annual Super Clean Knoxville 410 Nationals presented by Lucas Oil, earned $2,500 from Bruce and Debi Cox of Cox Design & Metal Fabrication for his efforts over the ten nights of sprint car racing between the Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway in nearby Oskaloosa. Rounding out the top three are Billy Alley ($1,000) and Australian Brooke Tatnell ($500), respectively.

The official top ten in the 2008 Cox Design Iowa Speedweek points after all ten nights are as follows: 1., Wayne Johnson, 314 points; 2., Billy Alley, 274 points; 3., Brooke Tatnell, 271 points; 4., Tyler Walker, 261 points; 5., Jason Johnson, 233 points; 6., Jesse Hockett, 220 points; 7., Bronson Maeschen, 214 points; 8., Brian Brown, 212 points; 9., Jason Solwold, 201 points; 10., Travis Rilat, 186 points.

The Cox Design & Metal Fabrication Iowa Speedweek includes ten straight nights of sprint car racing between Knoxville Raceway and the Southern Iowa Speedway. The top three places pay $2,500, $1,000, and $500, respectively. Past “Mr. Sprint Car” titlists include Ricky Logan (2002) of Arkansas, Shane Stewart (2003, ’04) of Oklahoma, Billy Alley (2005) of Nebraska, Jason Johnson (2006) of Louisiana, and Wayne Johnson (2007) of Oklahoma.
