KNOXVILLE, IOWA (January 6, 2009) - The AUS$30,000-to-win The Standard-sponsored Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic (GASC) at Premier Speedway’s Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia, on January 24-25 remains the final international qualifier for this year’s MyRaceLife.com World Challenge at the Knoxville Raceway. Twin qualifiers on the North Island of New Zealand were recently held at the Western Springs Speedway in Auckland and the Baypark Speedway in Mount Maunganui, with Americans Jonathan Allard, Craig Dollansky, Ricky Logan, Paul McMahan, Bill Rose, and Joey Saldana all qualifying for the Friday, August 14, feature. Amongst those ‘Yanks’ expected to compete in Warrnambool’s GASC are 1996 World Challenge champion Danny Smith, Shane Stewart, Gary Wright, Terry McCarl and 2008 North American 360 Sprint Car Poll “Driver of the Year” Jason Johnson.

According to Knoxville Raceway’s Ralph Capitani, “Knoxville Raceway is extremely proud of its long-standing partnerships with Rollie Nash at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Glenn Styres at Ohsweken (Ontario, Canada) Speedway; David Stewart at Western Springs; Willie Kay at Baypark; and David Mills at Warrnambool. All five tracks are premier international speedways and we believe our $10,000-to-win MyRaceLife.com World Challenge program on the Friday night of our Super Clean Knoxville Nationals, presented by Lucas Oil, is greatly strengthened by their participation. We hope all five promoters can attend this year’s sixteenth edition on Friday, August 14, at the Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, U.S.A.”
